More than Pac-Man
Gaming like in the good old days? That was also possible at LEVEL UP!
Pure nostalgia awaited you in the Retro Area. In addition to numerous cult games on nostalgic computers, such as the C64, which you absolutely had to try out with your friends, you could also find various Retro magazines, Comics and even Pinball & Arcade machines .
These were the exhibitors of the Retro Area 2024:
Vintage Computing Carinthia
New games for old computers and more. The VCC is intensively involved with retro hardware. Many programs, but above all games for the Commodore 64, have been created in the process.
DragonBox Shop
RETURN Magazin feat. Kautzner Computer Museum
The ghost hunters are active again! Ghostly apparitions in the retro area have been reported at LEVEL UP. The ghosts of gaming past are enraged as more and more new and damn good games for the old systems are coming onto the market and delighting young and old alike. But don't worry, because the ghost hunters are already on site and will take care of the problem. So come along and watch the team at work!
We ask for your cooperation! Because the ghosts will only appear if you play diligently on the exhibited devices!
So get to work and give our ghost hunter team a helping hand!
Commodore Treffen Graz
Every two months, retrocomputer enthusiasts meet in Graz and revive the “good old days” of 8 and 16 bit.
Besides the presentation of news (yes, really!) about Commodore VIC-20, 64, 128 and Amiga (but also Amstrad, Atari, etc.) there is still enough time for the exchange of hard-, soft- and shareware as well as literature and know-how.
Experimenting with new “old” hardware is naturally complemented by joint games and competitions as well as watching and listening to the latest “demos” on these platforms.
BrewOtaku - The Homebrew Gaming Magazine
BrewOtaku is an English-language magazine. It deals with brand new video games for computers, handhelds and consoles that have been declared dead. Who would believe that new games for the 40-year-old Commodore 64 are released almost every day? Well, not only for the C64! Other systems such as Amiga, Atari, Game Boy, MSX & many more still receive a lot of attention.
Retroguru - Retro Game Development
Retroguru is an international collective with a mission to create new games for old hardware. Since 2011, over a dozen games have been created, including the legendary unofficial 'The Giana Sisters' sequel 'Giana's Return'. The team programs for Amiga, Dreamcast, Atari Lynx, Sega Mega Drive, Wii and other, sometimes obscure, lesser-known systems. Some Amiga games will be playable on site.
Dr. Wuro Industries
Dr. Wuro Industries presents three newly released 4-player games for the Commodore C64 - the action game “SHOTGUN” (2016), the virtual frog pond “FROGS” (2017) and the vegetable hopping game “STRAIGHT UP” (2021), which provide entertaining multiplayer fun on the C64.
It will also be possible to try out a brand new action platformer currently in the works entitled “VINCE & THE VISITORS”, which will also soon be released for the Commodore C64.
RS Pinball / FlippArena
RS-Pinball is the place to go in Austria for pinball machines, whether new or used. In the RS-Pinball / FlippArena at LEVEL UP you can try out a wide variety of Arcade and pinball-machines .
Do you prefer playing rhythm games? There's a large selection here too!
Komoda & Amiga
Komoda & Amiga is the producer of the in-house magazine Komoda & Amiga plus, or K&A+ for short, which is published regularly several times a year. K&A also distributes games on cassette, diskette or module for Commodore computers such as the C64, C16 and the Commodore Amiga. While the games are mostly in English or multilingual, the magazine is available in English and Polish.
